this and that

1. I like being a teacher because my kids bring me treats on holidays and because we don't have school on Halloween day. Okay, I like being a teacher for other reasons too, but this chocolate is just really good right now and what can beat three-day weekends?

2. I finished knitting a few things and need to take picture to post. I finished a baby hat/booties set and a One Skein Wonder.

3. Tonight is Matthew's going-away party. He's moving to D.C. We will miss him, and he better come back with his girl in a couple years!

4. Fridays are hard days for me to wake up, because I have to be at work an hour earlier than every other day of the week. It also sucks because I'm usually in the shower when the sprinklers come on outside. Ouch.

5. We have finished remodeling many other rooms in our house! We need to take more pictures to share, but until then you can look at our nice new bookshelves in the library. I like saying that we have a library.

6. We're also in the middle of remodeling our guest bathroom. We're hoping to finish it this weekend (and then take pictures).

7. We have a lot to do before Tim's sister and her husband come to visit us for Thanksgiving. Wish us luck in finishing it all!

So this is pretty much a post telling you that I will make more posts with actual content soon. Hopefully. You know how I am.

stitches west

Well Stitches West is coming back to Santa Clara February 16-19, 2005. For those of you who don't know, it's a knitting convention that happens every year just 10 minutes from my house. Yes, I am a big knitting geek. They have a great marketplace where you can buy lots of yummy yarn and they also offer lots of classes.

Last year I took 2 classes - Stashology and Demystifying Gauge. This year I am taking four!! Joy of Finishing taught by Christine Bylsma (who taught the stashology class I took last year), Where Do They Get Those Numbers? taught by Edie Eckman, Toe-Up Socks taught by Susie Hodges, and First Choices by Sally Melville. The last one now says that it is sold out, so I hope I submitted my request when there was still an opening.

I can't wait!

secrets

I have been knitting, I promise.

A couple weekends ago, some friends had a baby shower. I knit up this baby hat called Miss Dashwood. I used GGH Via Mala in petal pink (or rosa in German).

Isn't it cute?

I can't wait to see it on their baby when she arrives at the end of October! I'm happy to report that it was well received. I have some yarn leftover, so maybe I will knit up some booties too.

I'm working on another baby present for a coworker who is also having a Halloween baby. I hope to have it finished by the end of the upcoming weekend, so I will take pictures then.

In other knitting news, I 've finished part of Tim's anniversary present. It came out so well, that I'm going to knit something else to go along with it. I think I have teased Tim already with past posts regarding gifts for him though, so I am going to save pictures of this until after our anniversary.

So I have been knitting. Everything is just so very secret.
