farewell foot chunk

You know, I knew I was going to have surgery today and all. I just never stopped to think that it might mean I couldn't do anything for awhile. I'm supposed to not walk around much and keep my foot elevated for at least the next couple days. Even after that, I shouldn't walk if I can help it for two weeks, until I get the stitches out. Man, now I'm going to be even more bored than before!

But they took that chunk out of my foot. It was a dermatofibroma, which is benign but slightly painful when wearing shoes. Mine looked like the bottom one. I will spare you all the details, but I will say that the surgery wasn't painful but it felt WEIRD. And that weirdness made me feel very faint.

I think I will be watching many movies on my laptop today.
I also think the numbness is wearing off.

When I say, "Mine looked like..." it's obviously a picture. You didn't have to look ;)

ouch. sorry i missed you on YM - i almost forgot that on the way out the door this morning, S. handed me the cable bill and said, "oh - this is due today. please drop it off." dope. anyway, i'm home now for the next 20-30 before i have to go pick cooper up, if you're up to gabbing. i had foot surgery almost 10 years ago - so they're right - keep it elevated or it will swell and the scarring will be worse. did they give you instructions for ice?

what a great time to catch up on movies and knitting! I know, easier said than done. It's never fun when you are forced to relax.

hello,

what surgery did you receive when taking it off? Did they freeze it or cut it out?

They cut it out. It was a pretty big chunk and I wasn't supposed to really walk much for a week, plus I had to take it easy on my foot for another 2 weeks after that.

Was the scar huge like they say?

Mine isn't too big. It did take awhile to heal though. It's been almost 6 months and now all I have is a thin inch-long scar that is still a little pink, but it's fading.

That's good, because I'm having mines removed on my foot and I want less scarring as possible. I love to were my heels and sandals! :)
